Ut Av Skogen (“Coming Out Of The Forest”) is a commissioned work for Festspillene i Bergen, creating a musical performance based on the life and works of Norwegian composer Harald Sværeud.
The performance had two parts: A contemporary multimedia part using large screen visuals for the festival opening ceremony, compressing the story and life of Sæverud into a 5 minute high-speed battle of different “-isms” from the previous century, their characters and instruments.
Then an outdoor family part, using a real forest and pyrotechnics, taking more time to reveal and explain the characters, instruments and music of Harald Sæverud. The piece uses simple toy props, video game aestethics and break-neck narratives to expose Sæverud and his position within the different -isms of the previous century.
