Day 18, presenting my artist work and Roman findings.
Tonight there was an artist presentation at Circolo Scandinavo, each of the current residing artists presented their work. This was very interesting, I’ve gotten to know everyone here as great friends but we know little about each other’s work, ideas and aesthetics. I really appreciated learning about the other’s work and ideas. I observe we are a highly diverse group of artists, which I like. Diversity is usually more interesting than coherence.
I gave a talk – with some musical elements – about my previous and current work, and presented some of the material I’m working with here in Rome. In a few days on Tuesday the 24th I will do a final performance, ROMA 2089. This will be part “expedition report” and part musical performance, where everything is revealed and sort of explained. There will be vampires, gladiatrices, mutated elephants, fatal love stories and epic gender battles.
Most of the day was spent preparing for the talk, and the evening with social networking IRL. I filmed the presentation, but uploading the whole file with the speed of the Italian information super-highway will take as long as the span of a civilization. So, here’s simply just the slides. Quicker for everyone.
